About Partners in Piping

Partners in Piping is a joint labor-management group committed to advancing the mechanical contracting industry by strengthening relationships between the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters and Mechanical Contractors Associations in Summit, Medina and Portage Counties.

Our organization consists of UA Local No. 219, the Journeymen Apprentice Training Center and the Mechanical Contractors Association of Akron. Together, we train and educate the younger generation for careers in the piping industry through workforce development. We also host job site tours and educational career trade shows throughout the year.

Our Partner Organizations

UA Local No. 219 Plumbers and Pipefitters

Established in 1889, the UA has been training qualified pipe tradesmen and women longer than anyone else in the industry. They provide premier training programs, including apprenticeships, extensive journeyman training, an instructor training program, and numerous certification programs. They also help their signatory contractors grow their market share by identifying new opportunities, providing support, and connecting them to the safest, most skilled and most highly trained workforce in the industry.


Mechanical Contractors Association of Akron

The Mechanical Contractors Association of Akron is an organization dedicated to serving the needs of area union contractors who install heating, ventilation, air conditioning, process piping, and refrigeration units. Its members include large contractors who work across the nation, as well as small, specialized contractors who work at a regional level. One of its core strengths is the diversity of its membership base.


Journeymen Apprentice Training Center at Local No. 219

The Journeymen Apprentice Training Center at UA Local No. 219 offers the industry's premier training programs, including five-year apprenticeship programs; extensive journeyman training; a comprehensive, five-year instructor training program; and numerous certification programs. Trainees have gone on work in a wide variety of industries, such as residential and commercial markets, as well as large and small industrial projects, pipelines, and shipyards.
